PEAK sold 1.7 million copies last week, as a Warhammer remaster hits the chart
We dive into the top-selling games on Steam last week. Plus, a quick update on how Battlefield 6 is doing after its second public beta.
We’re off to gamescom from tomorrow onwards, so here’s a shorter, early edition of the newsletter!

Let’s get straight into last week’s top Steam games by copies sold.
PEAK’s meteoric climb continues
1.7 million. That’s how many copies PEAK sold last week. Wild.
And it’s all thanks to a 38% discount from $7.99 to $4.95 on August 11. This brings PEAK’s total copies sold to 9.7 million and revenues to over $55 million.
As the discount is still running, we expect PEAK to shoot past 10 million at some point tomorrow. It’ll be the second 2025 budget indie to pass this coveted milestone (R.E.P.O has sold 16.8 million).
Needless to say, PEAK was the top Steam game by copies sold on Steam for last week (August 11-17). A well-timed early-ish discount can bring an indie success to even greater heights.
You can see this in action in our weekly copies sold chart below (delta, not cumulative, obvz):
Here’s some takeaways:
PEAK’s copies sold delta had been declining with each week after launch. Then, the price dropped eight weeks after launch
Our daily copies sold data shows that PEAK sold over 550 K copies on the weekend alone (267 K on Saturday and 293 K on Sunday)
However, Aggro Crab and Landfall also launched the Mesa Update on the same day as the price cut (August 11), bringing legacy players back into the fold with a new biome and achievements
This resulted in PEAK having its most concurrent players ever on Sunday (171 K CCUs). Similarly, PEAK also enjoyed its most DAUs ever on Sunday (over 1.3 million!), which you can see in the Alinea Platform screenshot below:

Combined, the new update and discount gave PEAK massive visibility on the Steam charts and store page, helping it generate revenues of $6.9 million on Steam last week.
Another budget indie takes #2 by copies sold
Mage Arena, last week’s #1 title, sold another 277 K copies last week, making it last week’s #2 game on Steam by copies sold. Mage Arena has now sold 2 million copies since its early access launch on July 24.
Mage Arena’s voice-controlled spells (like shouting ‘’FIREBALL’’ into your mic to cast fireball) are continuing to resonate with players and influencers alike:
Like PEAK, Mage Arena is very memeable, streamer-friendly, and cheap (at just $3). It also uses voice-chat functionality cleverly – like PEAK did with its proximity chat, which makes hearing your friend fall off a cliff hilarious.
Mage Arena is currently in early access, so expect news on the full launch soon.
A remastered Warhammer fan favourite takes #3
The Definitive Edition of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War took the #3 spot last week with 158 K copies sold (revenues of $3.4 million), after launching on Thursday Aug 24th.
Dawn of War – Definitive Edition includes the original 2004 game and all expansions, updated for modern hardware. It features improved visuals, like higher-resolution textures, better lighting, shadows, and reflections, while maintaining the original art style.
Fans of the Warhammer IP have expectedly been the main early adopters, as 65% of players have also played Vermintide 2 and 62% Space Marine II.
Dawn of War – Definitive Edition updates the game to a 64-bit platform, features an integrated Mod Manager, and is compatible with decades of community-created mods.
To that end, over half of the Definitive Edition’s early adopters played the Anniversary edition of Dawn of War, and 64% played the Dawn of War Soulstorm expansion.
Cyberpunk 2077 was at #4 by copies sold last week, selling another 156 K, thanks to a 65% discount ($60 to $21) that ran from Aug 4 to 16. During the discounted period, Cyberpunk sold over 300 K copies on Steam.
A quick update on Battlefield 6’s pre-launch numbers
Battlefield 6, which isn’t even out yet, was the #5 Steam game by copies sold last week, with 153 K sold. Following its second public beta, Battlefield 6 reached a total of 715 K copies sold, representing revenues of $40.9 million.
Here’s some updated Battlefield 6 data based on our metrics:
As you can see, the peak concurrent player count for the second beta was a little lower than the first one.
However, the highest peak for the second beta was on its first day, with dropping CCUs every day after (including on the weekend).
That’s right, we have metrics on demos, DLC, and betas. Want a free trial of our platform? Let us know, and we’ll get you set up!
Still, the numbers for Battlefield 6’s second beta have been impressive. The beta’s high engagement – combined with the pre-sales metrics – points to a very successful Battlefield 6 launch this October.
We expect Steam preorders to pass a million, and this Battlefield to be the best-selling one in franchise history. But as we argued last week, it won’t outsell Call of Duty.
